  • Symptom

Drafts at the threshold or jamb

Cold air sneaks past worn weatherstripping or a misaligned sweep. The seal has degraded faster than the door itself.

  • Symptom

Light visible around the door when closed

If you can see daylight along the frame with the door shut, the seal is gone. There's no fix short of replacing the seal — or the unit, if the frame is also out of plumb.

  • Symptom

    Sticking, warping, or sun-faded surface

Wood doors warp with humidity swings. Fiberglass loses color and surface integrity after 15-20 years of sun. Either is a tell that the unit's reached end of life.

  • Symptom

    Loose hardware or misaligned strikes

Hinges, latch, or deadbolt strikes that have drifted from years of settling. The door operates but security and seal are both compromised.

How We Install Entry Doors

Entry door performance is three things: how secure the panel is, how tightly the weather seal pulls, and how square the install sits in the wall. Get any one wrong and the rest underperforms.

  • SECURITY

    Multi-Point Locking + Reinforced Frame

Modern entry doors lock the panel to the frame at more than one point. Premium fiberglass and steel lines include multi-point hardware plus reinforced lock blocks — the door becomes part of the frame's structure.

    • Multi-point locking standard
    • Steel-reinforced lock blocks
    • Heavy-duty hinges, 4 per door
    • Solid strike-plate set
  • WEATHER

    Triple-Seal + Threshold Sweep

Most door failures start at the weather seal. We use lines with triple-compression weatherstripping, sill flashing on every install, and threshold sweeps that adjust to the floor.

    • Triple-seal weatherstripping
    • Sill flashing every opening
    • Adjustable threshold sweep
    • Bottom seal sized to floor
  • INSTALL

    Measured Square + Plumb

Every entry door we install is measured to the rough opening, not ordered to the door size on the existing door. NC homes settle, and a door ordered to nominal specs often doesn't fit the wall.

    • Measured to actual opening
    • Square, plumb, width-at-three
    • Full unit replacement
    • Installation workmanship guaranteed

Q · Quick Answer

What is the best brand of entry door for a NC home?

It depends on the budget and the home. For a strong mid-tier fiberglass entry door, Therma-Tru. For a premium-tier door with multi-point locking and heavier construction, ProVia. For real wood on a historic home, Simpson. We spec the right brand for each home at the estimate — no one-size-fits-all answer.
